Garage Door Decoration Ideas for Halloween

The Summer season has ended and the leaves are already changing colors. Soon we will have beautiful bronze, yellow and red leaves in our yards. Halloween is just a few weeks away. Some neighborhoods really decorate their yards for Halloween and have neighborhood competitions. Do something creative this season by using your own garage and door.

Here are a few ideas that can help transform the boring look of your garage, into the Halloween Park of your dreams.

The Black Alley

Use a 20ft x 100ft roll of black plastic sheeting to craft a black alley on top of your garage door. When hung over the garage door rails, the black alley produces a dark look that transforms your door.

On top of the plastic sheeting introduce brooms, cobwebs, branches, flameless candles, twine, lights, jack ‘o’ lanterns, talking heads, hanging ornaments, rubber bats, rubber spider, and a lot more can be introduced into the mix to give it a true scary feeling of Halloween. You can make it as scary as you like and the neighborhood kids will know your house is ready for Halloween.

Batty With Batting

Craft batting is perfect to create a full-scale spider web. You just need to stretch gobs of batting over the garage door or in any strategic location in the garage, then use string or thread to hang scary spiders, bats and bugs from every web. The bigger the bugs and bats the easier you can see them from the street. You can also string battery-powered lights in the batting to give it an eerie glow.

Light The Way

Creative lighting can also help your “haunt” your home. Look for strings of lights that will wrap around your trees and shrubs. You can also sit plastic pumpkins, skull lights and decorative luminaries around your garage. You can also use a combination of these lights to create the perfect ambiance for an indoor garage party.

Barn Dance

Turn your garage in to barn! You can decorate it with corn stalks tied together and some rakes and shovels. Don’t forget the hay! Spread some on the floor. Have some tables set up in your garage with various types of carved pumpkins and plastic pumpkins full of candy. Pick out some good barn dance music to play on Halloween.

Fortune Teller Tent

Nothing beats creativity during the Halloween season. You can start by setting up a camping tent inside the garage. Get a floor-length rug, a chair, a round table and a deck of cards. the table can be lit with an eerie light. Pick a Fortune teller costume or make yourself look like and old witch. With all these special effects, the kids will be scared and excited to come in the garage to get their candy.

The garage is a great place to use on Halloween.
